Classification Victory!
The Grievance Procedure Prevails! Justice is Served!
On 4/19/06, a class grievance was filed regarding the incorrect classification of workers and their employee status. Over the last year, Powell's had "accidentally" listed some workers as still being in their Trial Service when in fact, they should have already achieved Regular Employee status (see 6.6.1 of the contract). In the end, Powell's agreed to more than $2000 in retro pay and benefits to the aggrieved workers.
